Will Humana Pay For Rehab?
Yes, Humana will cover at least a portion of the costs associated with drug or alcohol rehabilitation. Any out-of-pocket expenses will depend on the specifics of your policy. Often, members may be responsible for co-pays, co-insurance, and/or a deductible.
For members who have satisfied their annual deductible, itβs possible you will not have any out-of-pocket costs for addiction treatment.
The type of addiction treatment covered under your plan will also depend on the severity of your addiction and which substances are being used. You can determine which level of care you qualify for by completing a pre-assessment. For a no-obligation assessment, you can reach us at 800-481-8457.
Types of Humana Plans
Humana has both commercial and Medicare plans. Ohio Addiction Recovery Center is not contracted with Medicare, so we are unable to accept Humana Medicare. However, we are in-network with commercial plans offered through an employer.
The most common Humana plans are PPO and HMO plans.
Humana PPO Plans
- Offers a wide network of doctors, specialists, and hospitals. You have the freedom to see any healthcare provider you choose, inside or outside of your planβs network, without a referral. However, seeing providers outside of the network usually involves higher out-of-pocket costs.
- Generally, PPO plans come with higher premiums, deductibles, and co-payments. The increased flexibility in choosing providers and not needing referrals comes at a higher cost.
- There is less emphasis on the coordination of care, allowing more freedom for patients to manage their own healthcare and directly access specialists.
Humana HMO Plans
- Has a more restricted network of healthcare providers. You are generally required to choose a primary care physician (PCP) who coordinates all your healthcare services. To see a specialist or get hospital care, you typically need a referral from your PCP. Services outside the network are usually not covered unless it’s an emergency.
- These plans usually offer lower premiums and out-of-pocket costs but with less flexibility. The emphasis is on preventive care and keeping costs down by using a defined network of providers and services.
- Strong emphasis on care coordination, with the primary care physician acting as the gatekeeper to other healthcare services. This model aims to provide more integrated care.
Whether you have a Humana PPO or HMO plan, OARC is in-network with Humana, ensuring the lowest possible out-of-pocket expenses.
Humana TriCare Rehab
Humana is also a popular provider of Tricare military health insurance. Ohio Addiction Recovery Center is proud to be contracted with Tricare, which means we are able to offer all of our drug and alcohol rehab services to military personnel and their families.

Medical detox is often the first step in addiction treatment. OARC offers a comprehensive 7-10 day inpatient detox program that is in-network with Humana. In detox, you or a loved one is monitored 24/7, receiving medication and other interventions to manage drug or alcohol withdrawal symptoms.
Medical detox aims to treat chemical dependency, so not all addictions require medical detox. Humana typically covered detox for:
- Alcohol detox
- Heroin or prescription opioid addiction
