There are different types of treatment centers that can cater to individual needs. The road to recovery is not an easy one and it will take a lot of work and dedication, but with proper assistance, that road can become much easier to navigate and travel. The first step on the road to recovery is admitting that there is an issue and becoming willing to do something about it. Once this has occurred it is time to locate a detox in Anderson, Ohio.

Finding a Detox Center

Detoxing is one of the most important and vital steps in the recovery process. It is a time in which the body is able to rid itself of the harmful chemicals that have built up during substance abuse. Most detox centers in Hamilton County will administer medications that help offset the painful physical and mental withdrawals that occur. Clients who are in detox programs will have 24/7 access to a trained medical staff that will make sure they are safe and comfortable through this trying time. Detox is often done at either privately owned detoxes, state-funded programs, or hospitals. The average stay at one of these facilities will vary from person to person, but it is typically around 3-7 days.

When someone completes their stay at a detox program they will have a few different options as far as continued care. Detox helps the body repair itself, but it does nothing to work on the mental side of addiction; that’s what continued care is for. Addressing the psychological aspect of addiction and substance abuse is extremely important. If nothing is done to help with cravings to use, then the chances of relapsing are very high. Upon completing a detox one will have the choice to take a few different paths. They can enter an inpatient rehab center in Anderson, OH, they can enroll in outpatient care, or they can attend anonymous support groups.

Inpatient Treatment Centers

The best option after detox is to enter an inpatient rehab center for at least 28 days. This may not be the ideal situation for some. Even people who struggle with substance abuse disorder have lives that they want to try and maintain. They have certain obligations, such as kids or a job, but sometimes these important things must take a back seat so the person struggling can work on themselves.

The thought of taking that amount of time off work may scare some people, but there are laws in effect that help those struggling take the leave from work they need to get better. The Family Medical Leave Act allows those with medical issues (addiction and alcoholism are viewed as a disease) to take up to 90 days or 12 weeks off work to get professional help. It will allow them to leave without facing punishment, is confidential, and can even result in disability pay.

If an inpatient rehab in Anderson, OH is completely not an option, the second-best choice would be to attend support groups while enrolled in outpatient therapy. Outpatient rehab centers in Ohio typically meet 2-4 days a week for a few hours each time. In these programs, one will typically have access to group/individual therapy sessions and will have to take drug tests. This will hold clients accountable while they work on building a stronger foundation for their recovery.

Attending anonymous support groups is very popular among recovering alcoholics and addicts. Not only does it help add structure to their weekly routine, but it will also help them meet others who have been where they have been and now have a better life. Building a good sober group will help that person stay on the right track and will allow them to partake in fun sober activities, which prior to getting clean/sober might have seemed like an impossibility.

Help Locating a Meeting or Sober Support Group

Twelve-step groups, including Alcoholics Anonymous (AA), Narcotics Anonymous (NA), and Cocaine Anonymous (CA) are among the most popular. It will teach them how to properly handle their current situation and will also allow them to share their stories and get input from other group members. These groups are also free to attend.
